Even at the Mirrodin Block Constructed Pro Tour, Affinity decks were less than 50% of the metagame. I have been at Pro Tours and Mythic Championships for 20 years, and I have never seen this level of dominance. Removing an object’s subtype doesn’t affect its card types at all.A mind-boggling 69% of the players ended up registering Oko, Thief of Crowns main deck or sideboard, which represents an unprecedented level of metagame dominance. If an object’s card type is removed, the subtypes correlated with that card type will remain if they are also the subtypes of a card type the object currently has otherwise, they are also removed for the entire time the object’s card type is removed. Similarly, when an effect sets one or more of an object’s subtypes, the new subtype(s) replaces any existing subtypes from the appropriate set (creature types, land types, artifact types, enchantment types, planeswalker types, or spell types). Counters, effects, and damage marked on the object remain with it, even if they are meaningless to the new card type. In such cases, the new card type(s) replaces any existing card types. See 205.1a in the rules (emphasis added):Ģ05.1a S ome effects set an object’s card type. I've seen this issue come up a lot when evaluating this card so I'm going to post this both here and furhter up the thread: the artifact WILL lose its type. Removing an object’s subtype doesn’t affect its card types at all. See comprehensive rules 205.1a for more on changing types (emphasis added):Ģ05.1a Some effects set an object’s card type. Counters, however, will stay on the new Elk creature, so a transformed Ballista or Ravager will be a 3/3 plus all the +1/+1 counters. Important rules note when evaluating this card: the affected artifact/creature will lose all types except and will just be a "Creature." This is relevant for metalcraft, sacrificing artifacts to Foundry, tapping them for Urza, counting them for his construct, etc. Deck Primers Top Tier Thursday Archive Deck-Specific Subreddits Try to do some metagame testing to get a feel for your deck so you can talk about it better.
